The Busan Marine Equipment Industry Cooperative held a launch ceremony for the Joint Delivery Platform for Shipbuilding Equipment on February 25 at the Shipbuilding & Marine Equipment Center in Mieum-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan, officially beginning platform operations.

At the ceremony, Keum-Sik Choi, Chairman of SB Sunbo Co., Ltd. and also Chairman of the Busan Marine Equipment Industry Cooperative, stated, “Through an industry-wide joint logistics operation model, we have established a foundation to enhance the stability and productivity of the K-shipbuilding supply chain.” He added, “We will continue our efforts to ensure that the marine equipment industry firmly positions itself as a key partner in the smart shipbuilding industry.”

The joint delivery platform operates by integrating a smart transportation management system and an intelligent route optimization system based on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). By sharing delivery schedule information in advance and transitioning from individual deliveries to a joint logistics model, the platform is expected to reduce logistics burdens for equipment suppliers and improve delivery efficiency.

In particular, once the platform becomes fully operational, logistics costs for equipment suppliers are expected to decrease by approximately 20%. In addition, real-time information connectivity between shipyards and equipment companies is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency at production sites and strengthen overall supply chain competitiveness.
