  SB Sunbo’s volunteer organization, the “Sunbo Volunteer Group,” continued its commitment to community care by bringing warmth to the local society through ongoing social contribution activities. On May 12, the group visited the Mollundae Community Welfare Center in Saha-gu, Busan, where they carried out a lunch service volunteer activity for local senior citizens. A total of nine members participated, including Vice Chairman Park Doo-sun, Executive Director Choi Kyung-ho, and other employees and interns. The volunteers supported meal distribution, dishwashing, and cafeteria cleanup, ensuring a smooth and comfortable dining experience for the seniors. Beyond serving meals, the team also greeted the elderly with warm smiles and sincere care, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the facility. Participants shared their reflections, noting that the experience was meaningful and rewarding, and that even small acts of support can have a significant impact on others. The Sunbo Volunteer Group will continue to expand its social contribution activities, sharing warmth with the local community and growing together with society.

 SB Sunbo operates a wide range of onboarding programs to support new employees in smoothly adapting to a new organization and growing into future core talents, in addition to practical training programs for young employees currently in service. We introduce SB Sunbo’s talent development system based on mutual growth, designed to build a strong and warm foundation for the future of the Sunbo Family. 

  SB Sunbo conducted its “Onboarding and Job Training Program for Young Employees” on May 21 and 28 at its headquarters for employees who joined the company within the past year. The program was designed to support smooth organizational adaptation and strengthen practical job competencies, with a focus on business etiquette and digital productivity skills. The first session covered essential business manners, including phone communication, formal email writing, reporting structures, and communication practices that foster collaboration and a healthy organizational culture. The second session focused on hands-on training using generative AI tools to improve work efficiency. Participants practiced tasks such as information summarization, translation, and drafting outlines for business proposals, gaining practical experience in applying AI to everyday work tasks. SB Sunbo will continue to provide high-quality, practice-oriented training programs to support the growth and successful integration of young employees, helping them strengthen their capabilities and thrive within the organization.

  SB Sunbo conducted its 2026 Emergency Response Training in May to strengthen preparedness for fire and explosion incidents and enhance employees’ ability to respond quickly and accurately in emergency situations. The training was carried out across multiple sites, starting at Dadae Plant 2 on May 15, followed by Dadae Plant 1, Gimhae Plant, and Gupyeong Plant. All employees, including managers, in-house workers, and partner company staff, participated in this practical, scenario-based training program. The drills covered the full emergency response process, including fire detection and reporting, alert dissemination, initial firefighting using extinguishers and hydrants, and emergency evacuation procedures. The training focused on improving rapid response capabilities and minimizing potential loss of life and property in real-world situations. In addition, emergency medical response training was conducted, including simulations of fracture injuries requiring evacuation assistance and cases of cardiac arrest caused by excessive smoke inhalation. Participants practiced first aid skills such as immobilizing fractures, patient transport using stretchers, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and other life-saving techniques. Training on the Heimlich maneuver was also provided, allowing participants to practice proper first aid responses to airway obstruction incidents that may occur in daily life. A representative from the local fire department attended the training session at Dadae Plant 1 to observe SB Sunbo’s emergency preparedness activities. Through this training, SB Sunbo reinforced its emergency response capabilities and reaffirmed its commitment to building a workplace where safety is the top priority.

  SB Sunbo’s Honam Plant successfully held the “Spring Hiking Event” on May 9, with approximately 135 participants including employees, partner company staff, and their families. The event was organized to provide employees and their families with an opportunity to relax in nature while strengthening communication and unity. Participants walked the Songgong Mountain B Course (approximately 5.3 km), enjoying the fresh spring scenery and sharing meaningful conversations outside their daily routines. After the hike, the event concluded with a group lunch and a lucky draw, creating a warm and enjoyable atmosphere for all attendees. SB Sunbo’s Honam Plant plans to continue operating various employee welfare and team-building programs to enhance workplace satisfaction and strengthen internal communication.

  To celebrate Family Month, SB Sunbo held the “Sunbo Family Cooking Class” on May 9 at its headquarters training center, bringing together 42 participants, including employees and their family members. Prior to the cooking class, children toured various parts of the company, including the ship design center, exhibition hall, and executive office, experiencing their parents’ workplace firsthand. The visit sparked curiosity and pride as they discovered the environment where their parents work every day. The main program featured a “gingerbread house” themed cooking class inspired by fairy tales. Families worked together to create their own unique edible houses using biscuits, chocolate, cereal, and marshmallows. Children expressed their creativity with great enthusiasm, while parents enjoyed meaningful moments with their families, strengthening bonds through shared activities. The event provided a special opportunity for employees to step away from their daily work routines and create lasting memories with their loved ones. SB Sunbo will continue to promote a family-friendly corporate culture by offering various programs that encourage communication, harmony, and shared happiness among employees and their families.

  SB Sunbo held its 2026 Team Leaders Workshop on May 22 at the Fairfield by Marriott Busan Songdo Beach under the theme, “Improving Communication, Transforming Processes.” The workshop was organized to enhance interdepartmental communication and strengthen collaborative work processes. Team leaders gathered to review the flow of information and data between preceding and subsequent work stages and discuss practical measures to improve operational efficiency. During the morning session, team leaders presented their key assignments and shared how their departments contribute to the overall workflow. In the afternoon, participants engaged in open discussions to identify gaps between the expected inputs and outputs of different departments, analyze challenges in cross-functional collaboration, and develop practical solutions. A special lecture on process innovation also provided valuable insights into effective workplace communication and continuous process improvement. In his closing remarks, Chairman Choi Geum-sik emphasized the importance of internal collaboration, stating, “Our colleagues are our most important internal customers. A culture of respect, consideration, and cooperation is the foundation of meaningful communication and outstanding performance.” SB Sunbo will continue to strengthen its collaborative capabilities through ongoing communication and process innovation, supporting sustainable growth and organizational excellence.

  On May 13, 104 students from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Mokpo National University visited SB Sunbo’s Daebul Plant as part of a corporate site tour program designed to provide firsthand experience of the shipbuilding and marine engineering industry. During the visit, students learned about SB Sunbo’s global competitiveness and future vision through a company introduction and promotional presentation. They also attended a session on engineering design, gaining insight into key ship design processes and the latest industry trends. The program was tailored to students’ academic levels. Freshmen toured the production facilities and observed manufacturing operations firsthand, while sophomore, junior, and senior students participated in mentoring sessions with SB Sunbo employees who are alumni of the university, discussing career paths, job responsibilities, and employment preparation. SB Sunbo remains committed to strengthening industry-academia collaboration with local universities and supporting the development of future engineering talent who will lead the next generation of the shipbuilding and marine industry.

  SB Sunbo held its “2026 Promotion Ceremony for Business Cards and Nameplates” on May 6 at its Busan headquarters and Honam operations. A total of 33 employees were promoted this year, including 12 from Dadae Plant 1, 5 from Dadae Plant 2, 3 from Gupyeong Plant, 3 from Gimhae Plant, 7 from Daebul Plant, and 3 from Yeongam Plant.  During the ceremony, employees in production divisions received safety helmets, while those in administrative divisions were presented with nameplates displaying their new titles. To celebrate their new roles, all promotees were also given new business cards and SB Sunbo’s traditional “Lucky Two-Dollar Bill.”  Chairman Choi Geum-sik congratulated the promotees, stating, “This promotion is the result of your dedication, hard work, and commitment. I hope you will continue to play a key role in driving the growth and future of our company.” He also emphasized that “as SB Sunbo expands into eco-friendly and energy industries, people remain at the heart of change, and today’s promotees are the driving force behind that transformation.”  The event concluded with a company vision pledge and a commemorative group photo. The newly promoted employees reaffirmed their commitment to taking on greater responsibilities and challenges. SB Sunbo looks forward to growing together with these talented individuals as it continues its journey toward becoming a leader in the global eco-friendly energy market.

 Students of Hallim Middle School had the opportunity to broaden their perspectives and explore future career paths through a special career experience program supported by the Sunjae Scholarship Foundation. From April 28 to 30, all 55 first-year students participated in the three-day program, gaining valuable educational experiences through visits to various institutions and cultural sites. The students toured Korea University, the National Assembly, Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), the E-Sports Hall of Fame, Seodaemun Prison History Hall, and the National Science Museum of Korea, experiencing a wide range of activities spanning humanities, history, media, and science. The program was made possible through the support of Chairman Choi Sang-sik of the Sunjae Scholarship Foundation, a graduate of Hallim Middle School’s 17th class, who wished to provide meaningful educational opportunities for younger students. The foundation covered program expenses so students could participate without financial burden. The Sunjae Scholarship Foundation plans to continue expanding scholarship and educational support programs for local students in the future.

  SB Sunbo participated in the “Busan Youth Job Growth Project” company tour program on April 24 in cooperation with the Busan Economic Promotion Agency. A total of 40 job seekers from the Busan area joined the event to experience SB Sunbo’s production sites and corporate culture firsthand.  During the tour, participants visited the Gupyeong Plant and Dadae Plant 2, where they observed the shipbuilding and offshore module unit production process and gained a better understanding of on-site operations and job roles.  The program also included a company introduction and recruitment information session at the headquarters, where participants learned about SB Sunbo’s vision, corporate values, and ideal talent profile. SB Sunbo plans to continue actively communicating with local young talent while contributing to workforce development and the revitalization of the regional economy.

  SB Sunbo's volunteer group continued its commitment to sharing warmth with the local community by carrying out a meal service volunteer activity for senior citizens.  On April 14, the volunteer group visited the Mollundae Welfare Center in Saha-gu, Busan, to provide regular meal service support for elderly residents in the community.  A total of 10 employees, including Vice Chairman Park Du-seon and Executive Director Son Jin-seok, participated in the activity. Volunteers assisted with meal preparation, food service, dishwashing, and dining area cleanup while warmly greeting and caring for each senior citizen.  The event was especially meaningful as Senior Staff Member Kim Ja-young and Intern Lee Ju-won newly joined the volunteer activity, bringing fresh energy to the team. Participants shared that the experience was both rewarding and heartwarming.  SB Sunbo plans to continue carrying out various social contribution activities that share warmth and support with neighbors in the local community.

  SB Sunbo held its April Morning Lecture on April 29 at the main auditorium of its headquarters under the theme, “Building a Trust-Based Organizational Culture Through Appreciation.”  The lecture was delivered by instructor Jeong Seol-i, who emphasized the importance of trust and appreciation within organizations.  During the session, trust was highlighted as a key factor in improving organizational performance. In particular, appreciation was introduced as an essential tool for reinforcing positive behavior, creating psychological safety, and fostering a collaborative workplace culture.  The lecture also introduced an effective three-step framework for expressing appreciation: “Situation – Behavior – Impact.” The speaker explained the importance of communication that specifically connects employees’ actions with positive outcomes and achievements.  In addition, four key principles of effective appreciation were shared:   • Immediacy (providing feedback right after a situation occurs)   • Specificity (focusing on observable actions)   • Connection (linking actions to team goals)   • Consistency (applying feedback fairly and consistently)  SB Sunbo plans to continue operating various morning lecture programs to strengthen trust among employees and foster a healthy and positive organizational culture.

  SB Sunbo held its in-house communication event, the “One Heart Contest,” on April 29 at the Smart Lounge rooftop of the Dadae Plant 1, where employees gathered to enjoy friendly competition and strengthen teamwork.  This year’s event featured a “Stopwatch Timing Challenge,” in which participants attempted to match a target time without looking at the stopwatch. Employees competed using only their sense of timing and concentration, creating an exciting atmosphere filled with cheers and laughter from colleagues.  The “One Heart Contest” is one of SB Sunbo’s unique organizational culture programs designed to encourage communication and unity beyond departments and job positions through simple and enjoyable activities open to everyone.  The event once again provided employees with a meaningful opportunity to recharge, connect with one another, and strengthen solidarity across the company.

 SB Sunbo was officially certified as a Family-Friendly Company by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in December last year, recognizing the company’s efforts to foster a family-friendly workplace culture.   SB Sunbo successfully held its special “Carrot Market” sharing event in celebration of Family Month in May. The event, one of the signature community-sharing activities of the Sunbo Family, was organized as an online auction where employees voluntarily donated items and the proceeds were contributed for charitable purposes.  The online auction took place from April 27 to 29 and attracted enthusiastic participation from employees. The campaign concluded successfully with a product handover event held on April 30 ahead of the holiday period.  Items donated by Chairman Choi Geum-sik, including an air purifier, wine opener, and tea set, received strong interest, along with various toys and play sets prepared for children.  Through this event, SB Sunbo shared both the joy of giving and the value of participation. The company plans to continue promoting diverse social contribution activities that encourage employees to participate meaningfully in everyday life while spreading warmth throughout the local community.
