Vice Chairman Park Doo-sun of SB Sunbo received the Busan Metropolitan City Mayor’s Commendation on April 2 at the Busan Citizens Hall during the “Group Wedding Sponsorship for People with Severe Disabilities and Merit Award Ceremony,” in recognition of his contributions to promoting the welfare of people with disabilities. This honor reflects the company’s continued commitment to social contribution activities, including sponsoring group weddings for people with severe disabilities. The initiative has been highly regarded for providing meaningful wedding opportunities to couples who had postponed their ceremonies due to financial or physical constraints, while also helping them overcome social isolation. Now in its 37th year, the program has supported a total of 250 couples to date. SB Sunbo will continue to carry out sharing and support initiatives for underprivileged communities, fostering mutual growth with the local community.

On December 12, SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. was honored with the “USD 50 Million Export Tower” at the 27th Busan Export Awards Ceremony and the 2025 Busan Trade Day Presentation, held at Paradise Hotel Busan. The Busan Export Awards recognize companies that have achieved outstanding export performance despite challenging global trade conditions, celebrating their contributions to regional export growth and promoting a culture of international trade. SB SUNBO has strengthened its export competitiveness through high-value eco-friendly ship and energy equipment, including LNG fuel gas supply systems (FGSS), high- and low-pressure LNG compressors, and cryogenic piping modules. As a result, between July 2024 and June 2025, the company achieved approximately USD 60 million in direct and indirect exports, representing a 160% increase compared to the previous year, earning this prestigious award. A key factor in this achievement was the establishment of a unit-package-based modular production system through close collaboration with domestic shipyards, as well as continued development of next-generation eco-friendly fuel systems. Leveraging this foundation, SB SUNBO continues to expand exports to the global shipbuilding and energy markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Vice Chairman Jae-Wook Seo stated, “SB SUNBO’s eco-friendly ship technologies represent the future value demanded by the global market. SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. achieved a significant milestone in its journey toward eco-friendly energy transition. On December 11, at the award ceremony held at Seoul Olympic Parktel, SB SUNBO received the Grand Prize in the Corporate Category, presented by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment, at the 2025 Korea Environmental, Resources & Energy Awards. The recognition carries special meaning as it officially acknowledges SB SUNBO’s transformation from a shipbuilding equipment company into a sustainable, technology-driven green energy enterprise, expanding its business into eco-friendly and energy sectors. At the ceremony, Chairman Geum-Sik Choi stated, “Drawing on our experience in developing shipbuilding equipment technologies and improving production capabilities, we will now make a new leap forward as a specialized eco-friendly shipbuilding and energy company.” Since July of last year, SB SUNBO has consolidated four former subsidiaries into a single corporate entity, reorganizing its technology teams around approximately 160 design and engineering personnel and 50 specialized research staff, while establishing a business structure that integrates both shipbuilding equipment and eco-friendly energy solutions. Recently, the company has expanded into decarbonization and renewable energy technologies, including water electrolysis systems, onboard ship carbon capture devices (OCCS), and wind-assisted propulsion systems (WAPS). Building on its accumulated expertise in shipbuilding equipment, SB SUNBO plans to continue developing and commercializing renewable energy and decarbonization technologies, further strengthening its competitiveness in the global green energy market.

Geum-Sik Choi, Chairman of SB SUNBO Co., Ltd., has been honored with the 43rd Busan Industry Award, which recognizes business leaders who have contributed to the industrial development of the Busan region. Presented by the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Busan Industry Award has been regarded as one of the most prestigious honors for regional business leaders since it was first established in 1983. Chairman Choi, who was selected as the recipient in the Management Category, was recognized for his long-standing contributions to the shipbuilding and offshore equipment industry since founding the company in 1986. He introduced the world’s first “module unit” concept to the sector, helping shipyards reduce production time and advance global standardization. In addition, he has played a leading role in strengthening industrial competitiveness by expanding the company’s business into future-oriented technologies. These include the commercialization of eco-friendly ship technologies such as LNG, methanol, and ammonia fuel supply systems, as well as the development of renewable energy initiatives, including wind-linked water electrolysis demonstration projects. The award ceremony was held on November 26 at the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall, attended by approximately 110 guests, including Busan Mayor Hyung-Joon Park, Busan Metropolitan Council Chair An Sung-Min, Superintendent of Education Seok-Jun Kim, representatives from local media, and business leaders. SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. participated in the 2025 Korea Tech Festival, held at COEX from December 3 to 5. Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and organized by KEIT, KIAT, KOTRA, and KTL, the 2025 Korea Tech Festival was newly established as a comprehensive industrial technology platform. The event integrates the Industrial Technology R&D Expo and the Korea Technology Commercialization Expo, covering the entire ecosystem from research and development sites to industrial applications and global collaboration. A total of 82 companies and organizations participated in this year’s event. Among them, SB SUNBO was selected as one of the “Top 10 Industrial Technology R&D Achievements,” an award presented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The Top 10 Industrial Technology R&D Achievements recognize companies and institutions that have made significant contributions to industrial technology research, development, and commercialization in Korea. SB SUNBO was honored in the shipbuilding and offshore sector for its achievements in developing an ammonia fuel supply system. The system includes technologies for safely supplying ammonia as a marine fuel, the development of key domestically produced components, and advanced technologies for fuel leak prevention and monitoring. As the share of ammonia in marine fuel is expected to increase in line with the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s carbon reduction targets, the project received high recognition for its potential to enhance operational safety and ensure reliability in the practical application of eco-friendly fuels for vessels. Ho-Gil Jang, Executive Director, who oversees the research project, stated, “Eco-friendly ammonia fuel technology is a key field that will determine the future competitiveness of the shipbuilding and offshore industry. Through this award, we will accelerate verification and commercialization to secure a technological edge in the global market for environmentally friendly vessels.” SB SUNBO is currently preparing sea trials scheduled for next year, applying the ammonia fuel supply system to an actual ammonia–diesel dual-fuel engine. The research project is expected to continue until March next year.

SB Sunbo Co., Ltd. received the Childbirth-Friendly Company Award at the 18th Multichild Family Day Commemorative Event, held on October 24–25 at the Busan Cinema Center (Haneul Theater and Outdoor Plaza). The Childbirth-Friendly Company Award is presented to companies based in Busan that take the initiative in encouraging childbirth among employees and providing considerate support for pregnant workers. SB Sunbo was recognized for actively participating in Busan’s childbirth and childcare-friendly policies and for contributing to the creation of a supportive environment for families and childrearing within the local community. The Multichild Family Day, now in its 18th year, was designated by the Busan Metropolitan City Government in 2008 to promote a culture that supports families with multiple children and to foster a social atmosphere that encourages childbirth and childcare. The commemorative event was held during the “2nd Children Bring Happiness – Busan” campaign, which aims to address South Korea’s low birth rate by building a shared commitment among government, businesses, civic organizations, and citizens. First launched in 2018, the campaign delivers messages such as “All of Busan Cherishes You Like Family” and “Busan, a Great City to Have and Raise Children.” The event featured an opening ceremony, expert lectures and performances, as well as various indoor and outdoor experience programs.

Jang Ho-gil, Executive Director of SB Sunbo, received the Commissioner’s Award from the Korean Intellectual Property Office at the 22nd Shipbuilding & Maritime Day ceremony held on September 18. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association. At the ceremony held at EL Tower, the ministry presented government awards to 36 individuals who have contributed to the development of the shipbuilding industry. The event brought together around 250 representatives from the Korean shipbuilding and maritime sector—including government officials, shipyards, equipment suppliers, and related organizations—to review industry achievements and reaffirm future strategies. It was also a meaningful occasion celebrating the shipbuilding industry’s achievement of USD 25 billion in exports, the highest level in seven years. In his congratulatory remarks, Vice Minister Moon Shin-hak of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, “K-Shipbuilding, which has overcome past challenges and strengthened its competitiveness, has recently recorded exports of USD 25 billion—the highest level in seven years.” He added, “We deeply appreciate the industry’s achievement in reestablishing itself as a leading force in Korean manufacturing, including building approximately three-quarters of the world’s LNG carriers.” The ministry also announced that it has allocated a KRW 240 billion support budget, a 50% increase from last year, to further support the shipbuilding industry and outlined key policy directions for the sector. As the government expressed its commitment to securing next-generation growth engines—such as ammonia-, hydrogen-, and electric-powered vessels, as well as autonomous ships—aligned with the global shift toward eco-friendly and digital maritime technologies, SB Sunbo is expected to play an increasingly important role in the domestic market. Amid intensifying competition from emerging players such as China and external geopolitical risks, SB Sunbo will continue strengthening the shipbuilding ecosystem by supporting the growth of parts and equipment suppliers across the industry.

SB Seonbo Co., Ltd. was selected as a “Busan Anchor Company” on July 24, recognizing its role in driving innovation in the regional manufacturing industry. On the same day, the company received its certification at the Busan Anchor Company Certification Ceremony, hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Government at Signiel Busan. Following the ceremony, participants attended a lecture and networking session aimed at expanding local open innovation centered on manufacturing-convergence (Manu-Con) companies. Companies are selected in stages based on their average revenue, including Pre-Anchor, Anchor, and Top-Tier Anchor levels, with tailored support provided at each stage. SB Seonbo was selected as an Anchor Company, the second stage in the program. Anchor companies are not defined solely by their size but also by their significant impact on the regional economy, including business partnerships with small and medium-sized enterprises, job creation within the region, technological influence, and potential for global expansion. Selected companies will receive financial support from the Busan Metropolitan Government ranging from KRW 300 million to KRW 500 million over three years. SB Sunbo has been re-certified as a “Busan Youth-Attractive Company (Cheongkkeul)” for 2025.On the afternoon of July 3, SB Sunbo received the re-certification in the “Welfare-Attractive Company” category at the 2025 Busan Youth-Attractive Companies Launch Ceremony held at BEXCO. Following last year’s recognition, SB Sunbo was again selected as a company where young professionals aspire to work, reaffirming its status as a leader in local youth employment and welfare innovation. The Cheongkkeul Company program, run by the Busan Metropolitan Government, recognizes companies that meet youth-preferred standards such as wages, income, job stability, and work-life balance. The award ceremony took place on May 28 at the BEXCO Convention Hall in Busan, as part of “Ocean Week 2025.” Recognized for his steadfast contributions to strengthening Korea’s maritime capabilities, Jeong Je-heon received the award plaque and a cash prize of KRW 3 million. He dedicated the honor to the Sunbo Family, sharing the joy of this achievement with colleagues. In addition, Jeong Je-heon previously received a Ministerial Commendation in 2022 from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy for his contributions to the development of Korea’s machinery, robotics, and aerospace industries, further highlighting his role in advancing Sunbo’s technological capabilities and reputation. On April 16, Choi Geum-sik, Chairman of Sunbo Family, was awarded the Management Sector Grand Prize at the 26th Busan Cultural Awards ceremony, hosted by Busan MBC and BNK Busan Bank. Chairman Choi, who previously won the 12th Korea Marine Award in 2019 and the MBC Cultural Award for the Marine Sector in 2021, once again proved his outstanding capabilities and achievements in the marine, fisheries, and management sectors with this new recognition. Busan MBC explained, "Choi Geum-sik, who has been managing his business for over 40 years since its establishment in 1986, played a decisive role in positioning Sunbo Industrial as a global leader in the shipbuilding industry." They also highlighted, "He led research and innovation, drastically improving productivity and quality in the shipbuilding materials industry. By modularizing complex tasks and producing them as a single set, he successfully reduced the manufacturing process time, making a significant contribution to the advancement of the shipbuilding industry."His dedication to community service and philanthropy, which strengthened cooperation between businesses and local communities and contributed to the revitalization of the local economy, was also acknowledged as a major achievement. Furthermore, it was noted that, "Based on his management philosophy that all employees are one family, he has implemented various systems such as support for employee clubs and welfare allowances, creating a favorable working environment."
