The rally was organized in response to a recent safety incident at the plant. The event began with an address by Dong-Joon Lee, Executive Director and Head of the Gupyeong Plant, followed by a reading of the safety pledge by Jong-Won Pyo, Head of the Production Management Team. All participants then collectively recited the pledge and signed the safety commitment document, reinforcing their determination to prioritize workplace safety. During the rally, Vice Chairman Doo-Sun Park emphasized the importance of actively looking out for one another’s safety through proactive safety intervention and awareness. He stressed that if a hazardous situation arises, employees should immediately stop work, report the issue to their supervisors, and resume operations only after appropriate safety measures have been taken. He also highlighted that everyone—including production managers and supervisors—must take on the responsibility of becoming part of the company’s HSE culture. He concluded by urging employees to openly point out and share safety concerns whenever they observe potential risks in the workplace. In addition, Vice Chairman Park presented Executive Director Lee with sling belt protectors, safety equipment designed to prevent damage to sling belts and reduce the risk of heavy-load drop accidents. Thermal underwear was also provided to help prevent cold-related illnesses during the winter season, with a request to continue building a safe and healthy workplace. The rally concluded with a collective safety awareness chant. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to safety by calling out key safety reminders together. On the same day, the Gimhae Plant also held its own Safety Resolution Rally, where employees participated in the safety pledge, signed the safety commitment document, and recited safety awareness chants, joining the company-wide effort to build a safer workplace.

Strategies for Successful Presentations Set clear objectives and analyze the expected audience Identify who the audience is and understand their interests in advance. Determine the core message Define the key message of the presentation and structure the details accordingly (problem – cause – solution). Collect supporting materials Strengthen the content by using statistics, quotations, and case studies from reliable sources. Design a clear structure Organize the presentation into a clear framework—introduction, main body, and conclusion—with three key points in the main section. Three Conditions for Effective Feedback Focus on facts rather than the person Objective descriptions reduce defensiveness because they evaluate actions rather than judging individuals. Be specific Example: “The report looks good overall, but it feels slightly lacking in some areas. It would be even better with a bit more detail.” Explain how the behavior affects others Example: “When you don’t share your opinion during meetings, it becomes difficult to explore diverse perspectives. I hope you can participate more actively next time.”

“The Art of Communication for Collaboration” September Morni…

2026-03-12
SB Seonbo held its September Morning Special Lecture on September 10 and 17 at Dadae Plant 1 and Gupyeong Plant. The lecture, titled “Professional Workplace Etiquette: Communication for Effective Collaboration”, was led by Yoo Na-jung of Sutopia HR Consulting. The session covered the importance of communication, common obstacles, practical ways to communicate with professionalism, and techniques to enhance communication effectiveness. Through the lecture, SB Seonbo employees deepened their understanding of professional and respectful communication, learning practical methods to foster trust and build a collaborative organizational culture. Why is Communication Important? • Professionalism goes beyond simple politeness: It stems from attitude and character in approaching work. • Sustainable organizational growth requires collaboration: Achieving results depends on effective teamwork. • Collaboration depends on communication skills: Respectful and professional communication is the foundation. Workplace “Communication Pitfalls” • Common workplace “ailments” to avoid: Monday Blues, Boss Syndrome, Work Aversion, Yes-Man Syndrome, YouTuber Syndrome, Self-First Syndrome, Overly Easygoing Attitude, “I’m the Good Kid” Syndrome, etc. • Causes of negative communication: cognitive biases, organizational culture, and online anonymity (e.g., Blind app) that promote negative thoughts and behaviors. • Impact of negative communication: spreading unverified information or targeting individuals destroys trust and creates a vicious cycle for both individuals and organizations. The solution: be a positive influence first, fostering a workplace where good communication thrives. Practical Tips for Professional Communication • Avoid automatic responses: Speak consciously rather than habitually, fostering thoughtful dialogue. • Recognize communication prerequisites: Goal-oriented, results-focused, role-centered, collaboration-based, and mutual respect. • Use Nonviolent Communication (NVC): Convey your thoughts and feelings without blaming the other person. • Four steps: Observation (objective fact) → Feeling (my emotion) → Need (my desire) → Request (specific action) • Practice refusal skills: Express empathy for the other party’s request, explain your own situation honestly, and propose alternatives. •Empathy and positive interpretation: Consider the other person’s perspective and interpret situations positively—this is essential for healthy communication. Through this lecture, SB Seonbo employees were reminded that professional, respectful, and conscious communication is the cornerstone of collaboration, trust, and a thriving organizational culture.

SB Seonbo Signs MOU with Busan National University Hospital …
작성일
2026-03-12
On August 11, SB Seonbo signed an Emergency Medical Support Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Busan National University Hospital (BNUH) in the hospital’s conference room. The agreement establishes cooperation for rapid medical response and preventive measures in the event of severe trauma incidents at industrial worksites. The MOU comes at a time when repeated industrial accidents have highlighted the critical importance of worker safety and emergency response systems. As government and industry initiatives strengthen accident prevention measures and on-site inspections, close collaboration between companies and local medical institutions is recognized as an effective solution for both accident prevention and securing the “golden hour” in emergency care. Under the agreement, if SB Seonbo employees or workers from partner companies experience severe trauma, BNUH will coordinate with its regional trauma center to ensure rapid transport, immediate first aid, and appropriate specialized medical treatment. The partnership also plans to have trauma surgeons visit worksites to provide on-site first aid and safety training, aligning with SB Seonbo’s regular industrial safety education, accident prevention initiatives, and crisis response drills. To mark the MOU, SB Seonbo donated KRW 50 million to the hospital development committee, further supporting the emergency medical capabilities of BNUH and its regional trauma center. SB Seonbo, a leading Busan-based company with global competitiveness in shipbuilding and marine equipment, recently launched as a newly integrated entity of four subsidiaries in July. Focusing on eco-friendly ship solutions and carbon reduction technologies, the company drives technological innovation and sustainable growth in global markets. With increased domestic and international market reach, SB Seonbo recognizes the growing need to prevent industrial accidents of all scales. Chairman Geum-Sik Choi of SB Seonbo emphasized, “At a time when serious industrial accidents are recurring, proactive corporate responsibility and preemptive measures are more important than ever. We are honored to collaborate with Busan National University Hospital to protect lives and ensure safety.” President Jung Sung-woon of BNUH added, “In industrial trauma cases, missing the golden hour can significantly affect both survival and recovery outcomes. We hope this agreement serves as a robust safety net for workers in regional industries.” While preventing accidents is always the top priority, some risks cannot be completely eliminated. Therefore, rapid on-site action, transport, and treatment in severe trauma cases are critical. SB Seonbo expects this MOU to strengthen safety awareness, reinforce systematic safety protocols, and contribute to building a secure working environment for all Seonbo employees.

SB Seonbo has contributed to improving emergency support for vulnerable groups in the local community, including elderly individuals living alone and people with severe disabilities, by funding emergency service vehicles. On August 12, SB Seonbo held a donation ceremony at Busan City Hall, presenting KRW 170 million to the Busan Metropolitan Government to support the Emergency Safety and Security Service. The ceremony was attended by Chairman Geum-Sik Choi of SB Seonbo, Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, and Chairman Lee Soo-tae of the Community Chest of Korea, Busan Chapter, who celebrated the spirit of giving together. The donated funds will be used to provide 10 emergency vehicles to 10 agencies operating the Emergency Safety and Security Service, enabling faster response to urgent situations involving vulnerable populations. The Emergency Safety and Security Service installs digital safety devices in the homes of target groups, including the elderly living alone and individuals with severe disabilities. These devices allow real-time monitoring and provide immediate emergency response when abnormal signs are detected, offering critical assistance to those who may otherwise struggle to report or respond to emergencies. With the addition of the new vehicles through this donation, response times during emergencies are expected to improve significantly, strengthening the rapid response system for the protection of vulnerable community members.
