On December 12, SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. was honored with the “USD 50 Million Export Tower” at the 27th Busan Export Awards Ceremony and the 2025 Busan Trade Day Presentation, held at Paradise Hotel Busan. The Busan Export Awards recognize companies that have achieved outstanding export performance despite challenging global trade conditions, celebrating their contributions to regional export growth and promoting a culture of international trade. SB SUNBO has strengthened its export competitiveness through high-value eco-friendly ship and energy equipment, including LNG fuel gas supply systems (FGSS), high- and low-pressure LNG compressors, and cryogenic piping modules. As a result, between July 2024 and June 2025, the company achieved approximately USD 60 million in direct and indirect exports, representing a 160% increase compared to the previous year, earning this prestigious award. A key factor in this achievement was the establishment of a unit-package-based modular production system through close collaboration with domestic shipyards, as well as continued development of next-generation eco-friendly fuel systems. Leveraging this foundation, SB SUNBO continues to expand exports to the global shipbuilding and energy markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Vice Chairman Jae-Wook Seo stated, “SB SUNBO’s eco-friendly ship technologies represent the future value demanded by the global market. We will continue to promote the technological competitiveness of Korea’s shipbuilding and marine industry worldwide.”

2026-03-13
On November 25, SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Karadeniz Holding and Busan City at BEXCO Convention Hall to promote the joint development of the shipbuilding and offshore plant industry. Karadeniz Holding, a global leader with unparalleled expertise in the powership sector, will collaborate with SB SUNBO and other Busan-based shipbuilding equipment companies to explore opportunities in the floating power plant market, marking an important starting point for regional businesses. The core objective of this three-party MOU is to open new markets for Busan’s shipbuilding equipment sector, a key local industry. Through its subsidiary Karpowership, Karadeniz Holding supplies powerships to multiple countries in Africa and Asia, offering practical solutions to global energy shortages. Busan City expects that this collaboration will provide local companies with access to a global network of leading enterprises and enable them to expand their business reach. Until now, local shipbuilding equipment companies had no access to the powership sector. However, many of these companies are already active in the offshore plant market, allowing them to enter the floating power plant supply chain without large-scale R&D investment, which represents a significant advantage.Under the MOU, Busan City, SB SUNBO, and Karadeniz Holding will jointly pursue: • Administrative support and cooperative networks to expand regional company participation • Joint projects leveraging the technical capabilities and equipment supply capacity of Busan’s shipbuilding and equipment industry • Sharing of Karpowership’s experience in operating powerships and LNG floating storage and regasification units, as well as global project expertise Mayor Hyung-Joon Park of Busan commented, “Busan is the largest hub for the shipbuilding equipment industry in Korea, leading digital and eco-friendly transformation and moving toward high value-added production as a global marine hub. Through this MOU, we aim to strengthen cooperation with the international community and combine the strengths of the three parties to further promote innovation and collaboration in the shipbuilding and offshore plant industry.”

The event integrates the Industrial Technology R&D Expo and the Korea Technology Commercialization Expo, covering the entire ecosystem from research and development sites to industrial applications and global collaboration. Ho-Gil Jang, Executive Director, who oversees the research project, stated, “Eco-friendly ammonia fuel technology is a key field that will determine the future competitiveness of the shipbuilding and offshore industry. The annual briquette-sharing volunteer activity, a winter tradition involving the SUNBO Family, was held on December 6 along the hillside roads near Gamnae 1-ro 15 in Saha-gu, Busan. First launched in 2013, the briquette-sharing program marked its 13th year this year. The initiative provides briquettes to households that still rely on briquette heating during the winter, supporting energy-vulnerable families through both donations and volunteer service. Around 100 SB SUNBO employees, joined by their spouses and children, participated in the activity and worked together to deliver warmth to the local community. Early in the morning, the SUNBO Family gathered at an open area near Gamnae 1-ro, where they received gloves, vests, and other necessary equipment. A ceremony was held to mark the donation and delivery of 10,000 briquettes. Before the volunteer work began, participants received a briefing and divided their responsibilities, including loading briquettes onto carriers, transporting them, and visiting households to deliver them directly. The volunteer activity began at approximately 8:20 AM and continued for about an hour, with participants divided into three teams. Team A worked in the Culture Village area, Team B along the downhill roadside section, and Team C along the hillside road. Under the guidance of the Briquette Bank staff, the teams carried out the distribution smoothly and efficiently. Warm attention and care are what ultimately melt the cold of winter. Despite the chilly weather, the dedication of SB SUNBO employees and their families who volunteered together will be remembered as a meaningful act of sharing—just as valuable as the 10,000 briquettes delivered that day. The SUNBO Family will continue to encourage greater participation from employees in community sharing activities and expand its support to help local neighbors facing economic hardship.

At the end of 2025, SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. helped bring warmth to the winter season through a series of meaningful social contribution activities. On November 29, SB SUNBO donated KRW 10 million to support the Santa Expedition Project organized by the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation at the Eulsukdo Cultural Center. The Santa Expedition is a nationwide sharing campaign that supports children who face financial difficulties during the Christmas season. Through the program, children receive wish gifts as well as assistance for winter heating costs, educational expenses, and cultural activities. The project has become one of Korea’s representative social contribution initiatives, with participation from many companies every year. This year’s donation was especially meaningful as SB SUNBO participated together with Karpowership, a Turkish company. SB SUNBO, which has been involved in various donation projects through the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, decided to extend this initiative by partnering with an overseas company with which it has established economic cooperation. Karpowership, which also donated KRW 10 million, is a subsidiary of Karadeniz Holding, a globally recognized Turkish company in the powership sector. On November 25, Karpowership signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Busan Metropolitan Government and SB SUNBO for the joint development of the shipbuilding and offshore plant industries, marking the beginning of closer industrial cooperation. Meanwhile, on the same day, the Sunjae Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit public foundation established by Chairman Geum-Sik Choi to honor his father’s spirit of “sharing through education” and to nurture future talents in the region, awarded KRW 10 million in scholarships to two Turkish international students (KRW 5 million each). This initiative demonstrated how economic cooperation with a Turkish company has extended beyond industry into social contribution for future generations. By working together not only in technological exchange but also in spreading positive corporate influence, the two companies created a meaningful example of global partnership and shared values.

SB SUNBO Co., Ltd. held a morning lecture on “Prevention of Workplace Sexual Harassment and Business Etiquette” on December 3 at the company’s headquarters training center. The one-hour session was conducted from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. From 8:00 to 8:30 AM, Mi-Sook Yeom, an instructor from Empathy Education Consulting, delivered a lecture on the prevention of workplace sexual harassment. From 8:30 to 9:00 AM, Chae-Young Lee, an instructor from Synergy Dream, led a session on business etiquette. The workplace sexual harassment prevention training is one of the five mandatory statutory trainings in Korea, legally required to ensure that employers provide a safe and discrimination-free working environment for their employees. The training aims to prevent workplace sexual harassment and to foster an organizational culture capable of responding appropriately when such incidents occur. The program covered key topics including: • relevant laws and regulations regarding workplace sexual harassment • the company’s policies for preventing sexual harassment • procedures and response measures in the event of an incident • grievance counseling and support procedures for affected employees • other preventive measures necessary to promote a respectful workplace SB SUNBO will continue to provide educational programs like this to ensure that all members of the SUNBO Family can work in a safe and respectful environment. The following session on Business Etiquette provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of professional manners, which serve as the starting point for smooth collaboration within an organization. Business etiquette plays a vital role in shaping first impressions, as well as in everyday workplace interactions such as communication style and basic attitudes among colleagues. Although these elements may seem small, they are closely connected to work performance. Employees who demonstrate strong business etiquette tend to receive positive evaluations not only for their job performance but also for their relationships within the organization. Ultimately, these qualities contribute to strengthening the company’s overall competitiveness. It is hoped that through this lecture, members of the SUNBO Family gained a deeper understanding of respectful communication, collaborative workplace habits, and the mindset required of responsible professionals.
