On October 11, the team leading SUNBO’s Sunshine Project gathered for a trekking event at the Molundae area in Dadaepo to wish for the project's success. The Sunshine Project envisions transforming SUNBO into the “No.1 Global Eco-Friendly Energy Company, Sailing Beyond Shipbuilding into Energy.” The project is structured around four modules, divided by business sectors: Shipbuilding, LNG/OCCS, Eco-Friendly, and Management/Operations. Their key goals include: Shipbuilding Sector: Achieving KRW 200 billion in revenue by 2026LNG/OCCS Sector: Achieving KRW 200 billion in revenue by 2026Eco-Friendly Sector: Achieving KRW 100 billion in revenue by 2026Management/Operations Sector: Reaching a 10% operating profit margin The roadmap aims for overall revenue of KRW 500 billion and net income of KRW 50 billion by 2026, ultimately targeting a market capitalization of KRW 1 trillion by 2027.Following their kickoff meeting, the Sunshine Project teams split into groups for the trekking activity, carrying banners displaying their individual targets and taking commemorative photos with the scenic Dadaepo coastline as a backdrop. During the kickoff meeting, team members discussed their roles, motivations, goals, expectations, and resolutions for the project.As part of the initiative, the Sunshine Project team will operate as One Team, overseeing and directing detailed plans to transform Sunbo from a global shipbuilding equipment provider into a global energy solutions leader. The team will also actively encourage and guide the Sunbo Family toward achieving its ambitious goals.

SUNBO recently concluded its ‘Body Fat Reduction Contest,’ an initiative designed to enhance the self-health management capabilities of employees who are vulnerable to health risks. On the 12th, the company held an award ceremony, presenting cash prizes and certificates to outstanding participants who achieved successful body fat reduction.The contest, which began in March and ran until October, involved a matching fund system where participants and the company jointly accumulated monthly contributions on a 1:1 basis. On October 24, the final body assessments (InBody measurements) were conducted, and results were compiled to determine the top three performers and high scorers (those scoring 60 points or more based on the scoring criteria). The October lectures featured two main themes: “The Future of the Shipbuilding Industry and Our Response”, delivered by Seonbo Hightech CEO Kim Sang-do, and “Corporate and Professional Ethics”, presented by Kim Hee-jung from the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. CEO Kim Sang-do focused on the current trends in the shipbuilding sector, key insights into the shipbuilding equipment industry, and Seonbo’s strategic responses. On November 2, SUNBO Family hosted the Fall Fun Sports Festival at the indoor gymnasium of Busan Health University, bringing together employees and their families for a day of excitement and bonding. On October 29, the second-half SUNBO Blood Donation Day event was held at the respective plants of SUNBO INDUSTRIES and SUNBO UNITECH. The event was organized to help stabilize the regional blood supply ahead of the winter season and to demonstrate SUNBO’s commitment to ESG management. The group blood donation was conducted in two sessions—morning and afternoon—with a total of 34 participants, including 23 employees from Seonbo Industrial and 11 from SUNBO UNITECH, contributing warmth and care to the local community. SUNBO INDUSTRIES has been recognized for its continuous community outreach and its efforts in spreading a culture of sharing, receiving the Top Honor in the Sharing Category at the Busan Social Contribution Awards in September. SUNBO Family Chairman Choi Keum-sik’s role as Chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea from 2021 until this summer further invigorated the company’s volunteerism and culture of giving. The company encouraged employees to continue donating blood individually as well and expressed its gratitude by providing a 20,000 KRW cultural gift voucher to each participant in the group blood donation.

‘Ping Pong Ball Bounce Challenge’ One-Heart Event Held

On October 28, the SUNBO Family’s signature communication event, the One-Heart Competition, organized by the Organizational Culture Team, was held at the Smart Lounge of the Dadae Plant 1. This event featured a challenging game where participants had to bounce a ping pong ball and land it into various targets. Each department and partner company formed teams of two, with a total of 10 teams participating. Each team was given three ping pong balls, which had to bounce at least once off the floor before landing in a target. Points were awarded based on the target: 1 point for a basket and 3 points for harder targets like paper cups and cylindrical holders.Due to the unexpectedly high level of difficulty, scoring was challenging for most teams. After three attempts, the Plant Design Team 2 (Kim Kwang-nam and Park Gwi-nam) secured victory with a total score of 4 points. The winning team received a 50,000 KRW departmental prize. The Organizational Culture Team plans to continue discovering and expanding inter-departmental communication activities to foster a close-knit and flexible organizational culture.

On August 12, SUNBO HIGHTECH’s R&D Center and the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation of Mokpo National University held a prototype demonstration of the Electric Vacuum Oil Suction Device at the Yeongam Plant. The event was attended by SUNBO HIGHTECH CEO Kim Sang-do, key executives, Professor Kim Ho-kyung from Mokpo National University’s Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, and industry-academia cooperation representatives. With financial support from Mokpo National University, SUNBO HIGHTECH developed an electric vacuum oil suction device designed to improve productivity by creating a safer and cleaner work environment compared to traditional methods for removing residual oil from piping and equipment after hydro testing.Through pre-commissioning and the demonstration, the device showcased effective performance in ensuring safety, enabling one-person operation, reducing cleanup time, preventing spillage and contamination, and minimizing leak recurrence. Following the demonstration, a discussion session was held between SUNBO HIGHTECH and Mokpo National University, during which both parties agreed to continue mutual support in future research and development projects. They also outlined plans to collaborate on identifying various research initiatives to establish safer, more efficient, and smarter production facilities.

The SUNBO Family’s signature communication event, the One-Heart Competition, organized by the Organizational Culture Team, was held on August 28 at the SUNBO INDUSTRIES headquarters’ Smart Lounge. This year’s featured game, Ping Pong Ball Bouncing, required both quick reflexes and focus. Teams of two from the SUNBO Family faced off in closely contested matches. Participants could choose one of six progressively challenging missions, each incorporating various techniques such as flipping or spinning the ball. Players were allowed up to two attempts per mission, with the rule that the score from the first attempt would be void if a second attempt was made.The Finance Team, represented by Lee Dong-min and Yoo Jae-hoon, claimed victory by earning 5 points in their first attempt. They were awarded a 50,000 KRW departmental prize for their impressive performance.
