​SUNBO Unitec collaborates with KEPCO Research Institute for hydrogen co-firing of 150MW gas turbine A research project agreement was signed for ‘Retrofit technology development and verification’.   SUNBO Unitec participated in the agreement ceremony held at the KEPCO Research Institute on July 11 along with a total of 17 organizations, including the government, power generation companies, industry, academia, and research institutes. This agreement was concluded to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gases in the power generation sector.  Currently , the global hydrogen co-firing market is showing continuous growth as a means of reducing greenhouse gases from gas turbine combined cycle power plants . Accordingly , securing technologies such as ▲ gas turbine combustor modification ▲ hydrogen co-firing operation ▲ natural gas-hydrogen mixed supply ▲ hydrogen safety management to apply hydrogen to gas turbines has emerged as a key issue. Korea Electric Power Research Institute is continuously developing and demonstrating technology to convert old gas turbines to hydrogen co- firing so that the utilization rate of gas turbine combined cycle power plants can be improved and greenhouse gas reduction effects can be achieved at the same time.  SUNBO Unitec plans to collaborate with 17 organizations to develop technology to convert existing gas turbines to hydrogen co-firing by more than 50% and demonstrate it for the first combined gas turbine units in Seoincheon and Shinincheon. If the long-term demonstration of 50% hydrogen co-firing is successful for large gas turbines of 100 MW or more, it can greatly contribute to achieving the goal of reducing greenhouse gases by domestically producing global-level hydrogen co-firing technology. By building a large-capacity hydrogen power generation complex infrastructure centered on the metropolitan area with high power generation capacity, it is expected that it will be able to smoothly supply to other urban areas such as Busan with high energy consumption.  SUNBO Unitec is running as a leader in the future energy industry by signing an MOU in the field of eco-friendly and energy new business and plant modules with a large domestic company, participating in a hydrogen co-fired gas turbine power generation project, and taking charge of system diagnosis and local production of parts. In particular, as the company declared a major transformation into a comprehensive green energy solution company in 2021 and is focusing on supporting technology development and commercialization, it is expected to play a role in the success of this government project based on its systematic system and capabilities.  SUNBO Unitec received an order for the Mixing station among the co-fired power generation systems in March 2022 and delivered it in December 2022.​

SUNBO will participate in 'GASTECH 2023', the largest exhibition related to the energy industry such as gas, LNG, and hydrogen, held at the Singapore Expo from September 5th to 8th. As a hidden champion with leading technology in the field of shipbuilding equipment, we introduce LNG bunkering and fuel purification systems to global business partners and experts. As a low-carbon core solution introduced through this Gastech, in which more than 750 companies from over 100 countries participate, it is expected to gain various benefits , such as trends in the hydrogen market where investment is expanding, current status of technology in competitive industries , and knowledge sharing networking.  Global hydrogen industry business exhibition, 'H2meet 2023' will be held at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang from September 13th to 15th . It is expected that the entire industrial cycle, including hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization, can be examined. As a green energy solution company, SUNBO Unitech will exhibit PEM-type water electrolysis technology, CCUS (carbon dioxide capture and liquefaction system), waste treatment-based eco-friendly gas production technology, and co-firing turbine control system.  At BEXCO from October 24th to 27th, is one of the world's leading marine exhibitions and will be held under the theme of 'Marine Sustainability: Innovation for an Eco-Friendly Future. At 'Komarine 2023', where 1,500 companies from 700 countries participate, future high value-added technologies are expected to be introduced across all fields, including ship operating equipment including fuel tank charging systems, alternative fuel utilization systems such as ammonia and hydrogen, and liquefaction technologies and products. Tech seminar will be held at a conference held simultaneously during the Komarine event . On the 24th and 26th, we will promote our alternative clean fuel system and carbon capture and storage technology from 2 to 3 p.m. During the same time slot on the 25th and 27th, we plan to introduce the water treatment system of the exhaust gas recirculation device and the LNG/methanol fuel supply system. ​

    ​On this day, SUNBO industries Co.,Ltd. held a ceremony at 10:50 a.m. at the headquarters training center, and Sunbo Unitech's Gupyeong plant held a ceremony at 1 p.m. at the in-house restaurant to praise Sunbo Family for its hard work. Sunbo Unitech's Daebul Plant, Sunbo Hitech's Yeongam Plant, and Sunbo Piece held a ceremony by the factory manager.​ More than 100 executives and employees, including executives, responsibility, origin, and senior team leaders, attended the ceremony to celebrate the 37th anniversary of the launch. At the ceremony , starting with the national ritual, the Saga and the Code of Ethics were introduced, followed by the ▲ Director of Related Institutions Award ▲ Outstanding Employee Award ▲ Outstanding Employee Award ▲ Best Employee Award ▲ Achievement Award ceremony.   In his inaugural address, Chairman of Sunbo Familly Choi Geum-sik emphasized Sunbo's new vision to lead the shipbuilding industry along with explaining internal and external business conditions and market trends. After the commemorative speech, the ceremony was completed with the 10 commandments, cake cutting, and saga and slogan. The Sunbo presented a gift card worth 370,000 won as a special gift to commemorate its foundation with gratitude to all executives and employees.   

 Sunbo Angel Partners and Lighthouse Invest signed an investment agreement worth 3.5 million euros (about 5 billion won) with Dutch solar electric vehicle company Lightyear on June 28.  At the Busan Roundtable held at the Centum Sky Biz Building in Haeundae on the same day, IRs of competitive startups, including Lightyear, were conducted. Executives, including CEO Lex Hoefsloot  Lightyear and Chief Technology Officer  Arjo van der Ham, introduced their core technologies, businesses, and overall management to investors. Lightyear, which has one of the world's leading technologies and commercial vehicle designs, is becoming a promising global company by producing the world's first electric vehicle powered directly by sunlight. It is also a newly discovered company at CES 2023, the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition that Sunbo Angel Partners participated in in January.   Earlier, Sunbo Angel Partners and Lighthouse Invest conducted an on-site inspection in the Netherlands to examine the local business trends of Lightyear. By signing an agreement, Sunbo announced its intention to establish a cooperative system for developing and procuring core parts led by companies in Busan and establishing a foundry factory specializing in electric vehicles in Busan.

 Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. participated in the "Nor-Shipping 2023" held in Oslo, Norway, for four days from June 6 to 9 to introduce an eco-friendly fuel supply system.  Norshipping is one of the world's four largest exhibitions of shipbuilding and marine equipment held every two years, and is a venue for exchanges between large European shipowners, shipyards, and marine plant officials to understand the flow of overseas shipbuilding markets and share innovative technologies. Kim Nam-soo, vice president of Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd.​, Kim Young-soo, vice president of plant design, Lee Ji-young, senior vice president of plant sales, Yoon Dong-hyun, and Chung Young-hoon, head of the technology research institute, attended the fair to understand the trend of the eco-friendly ship market and competitors.   After the fair, Kim Young-soo, managing director of the plant design team, said, "We were able to devise the right direction for where and how to conduct sales activities in the current flagship products and future food sectors." Lee Ji-young, managing director of plant sales team, also said, "We felt that market needs and competitors are moving very quickly, and we hope that research institutes and design personnel will have an opportunity to feel this crisis and voluntarily speed up development."

  Hanmaeum Competition, a representative communication event for the Sunbo Family hosted by the organizational culture team, was held at the Sunbo Industrial Co., Ltd. and Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. Smart Lounge for two days from June 26.  Following the singles table tennis tournament, which was an event in May, the 4th Hanmaeum tournament was held for each team. Three players from each department were organized into one team, with eight teams from Sunbo Industrial Co., Ltd. and four from Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. participating. The rules of the game were that all players kicked the jegi once for each team and the team that kicked the most by adding up the number of successes won. If you drop the jegi, your turn immediately goes to the next player, and you were only allowed to pick it up once in the air. The game time limit per player was 1 minute, and the Sunbo Families in the field counted the number of successes together. All players were given only one chance to participate, so high concentration and condition management were essential.   After a short but thrilling match, Sunbo Industrial Co., Ltd. Design Team 1 and Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. Design Team 5 won the championship. Choi Woo-ho, who led the design team 1 to the overwhelming first place, scored 49 alone and recorded an amazing performance. The first-place team was given 50,000 won in department fees as an injury.

 The organizational culture team hosted a Team Leader Communication Workshop to quickly improve difficulties between departments and establish an active communication culture.  Twenty-nine team leaders from Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. and Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. participated in the one-day workshop held at the headquarters' training center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 28. The team leaders first proposed issues that are expected to improve their work through system (procedure) changes in each department, and then discussed them as major agendas. The main purpose was to find and resolve issues that need structural improvement on their own, except for minor issues that can be resolved through normal business contact.   Earlier, the organizational culture team collected agenda items from related departments by June 22nd, organized the answers by the 26th, and comprehensively shared them by the 27th, the day before the workshop on-site discussion. After the workshop, the team leaders had networking time for each department at a separate dinner.

 The Busan Shipbuilding & Marine Equipment Industry Cooperative (hereinafter referred to as the Busan Shipbuilding & Marine Equipment Industry Cooperative) conducted fire safety education specialized in the shipbuilding & marine equipment industry at Saha Fire Station on June 22.  At Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd., six executives and employees, including CEO Kim Sang-do, attended to learn the fire prevention and response manual. Safety education, which took place from 10 a.m. to lunch, was filled with ▲ watching promotional videos of the Busan Fire Department ▲ training on factory fire reduction measures ▲ training on fire detector malfunctions ▲ guidance on how to use disaster safety facilities and equipment ▲ CPR theory and practice.

 Sunbo Industriesl Co., Ltd. and Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. were honored to be designated as "root technology companies" by the National Root Industry Promotion Center in the first half of this year following Sunbo Hi-Tech Co., Ltd.  The National Root Industry Promotion Center designates companies with core root technology and excellent growth potential among the root industries that are the basis of the manufacturing industry as root technology companies. Eligibility for application shall be granted to enterprises with core root technology designated pursuant to Article 14 (1) of the Root Industry Promotion and Advanced Technology Act and the Core Root Technology Notice, and more than half of the total sales must be made using root technology. In addition, companies with more than 60 points and a total of 140 points will be finally designated in the evaluation of technical capabilities (7 items related to core root technology, products, patents, etc.) and management capabilities (5 items such as business capabilities and sales, respectively. Earlier, the Sunbo conducted an online self-diagnosis on the website of the National Root Industry Promotion Center, submitted documents for designation, and shared tasks by departments for on-site evaluation by the local Small and Medium Venture Business Administration.   Unlike the root company certificate issued by the agency, the root technology company designation certificate takes effect permanently, so designated companies can enjoy various support and benefits in the future. ▲ Preferential treatment such as establishing an intelligent root process system ▲ supporting process automation and advanced ▲ designating a specialized complex, and ▲ issuing employment recommendations for foreign workers in office.

  Sunbo Angel Partners and Lighthouse Invest will hold a roundtable to connect startups and mid-sized companies in Daejeon and Busan on June 26 and 28.​   On the 26th, the SUNBO will visit the Daejeon Bioneer Global Center to tour the facilities and operation status of Bioneer, a gene-based bio venture company, and have a meeting with Chairman Park Han-oh. Following this, the Daejeon Innovative Startup IR will be held to introduce the core technologies of each company, major manufacturing fields, and overall management.​   At the Busan Round Table held at the Shinyoung Securities APEX Family Office in Haeundae on the 28th, IR will be held with Bose Semiconductor, a fabless company for AI semiconductors for self-driving cars, Lightyear, a Dutch solar electric car company, and Roboone, an industrial robot manufacturing company. These are promising companies that Sunbo Angel Partners and Lighthouse Invest are already investing in or considering investing in, and are expected to play a major role in expanding Sunbo's startup innovation ecosystem.​ 

 The ‘Hope Dream Café’ hosted by the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and the Seobusan Mechanical Parts Industry Job Center came to Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd.​ and Sunbo Unitec Co., Ltd.​​​   On May 17th and 31st, the Hope Dream Café, which was set up at the entrance of the Dadae 1 Plant and the Smart Lounge of the Gupyeong Plant, respectively, operated for two hours from noon. Hope Dream Café is a project that provides coffee and refreshments to workers in the western industrial complex, which lacks infrastructure, and supports worker rest programs such as psychological counseling.​   The showroom family, who visited the coffee truck in the hot weather with the highest temperature well over 20 degrees, took a moment to relax while drinking cool drinks with their colleagues. On one side, various psychological programs such as psychological counseling, tarot reading, and stress level diagnosis were conducted, attracting the interest of many show families.​ 

  The organizational culture team held the 3rd Table tennis competition, a  representative communication event of  the Sunbo Family, from May 15 to 26.​ The singles table tennis tournament was adopted as the third event following  the " fast flip of coins" and "book unfolding events,"  which received positive responses at the last tournament.  The organizational culture team held the competition in a tournament manner through a group lottery after receiving the participants in advance. In the table tennis tournament, which lasted from the round of 32 to the final, the smash and passionate support stood out, reminiscent of the national team selection.  After a fierce battle,  Jeong Dong-min, a senior member of the design team 3, won  the championship, and Shin  Yoo-chul, a senior member of the design team 2, and Lee Dong-min, a senior member of the financial personnel team, were honored with second and third place, respectively.  The winner was given 300,000 won, and the second and third-place participants were given 200,000 won and 100,000 won in prize money.​  The competition, which will be held in June, is scheduled to be a traditional game, Jegichagi. Meanwhile, the carrot market "Beautiful Donation," a sharing event, is also cruising with the active participation of Sunbo Family. The Sunbo Carrot Market was held in  May under the supervision of  the quality management department and the sales team in June. An online comment auction was held for three days from the 13th for favorite items submitted by the sales team  from June 1 to 9.​

  Sunbo Family held a company-wide reading debate on May 18 for the second time this year, and executives and employees gathered together to share their book reviews and thoughts.  Executives and employees read "Manage KRW 1,000," which contains the secret to the success of Daiso founder Park Government's "Management of KRW 1,000," and summarized what they felt and what they wanted to share with each department. Executives in charge of each department selected excellent book reviews from among the book reviews submitted by May 26, and the Ministry of Management and Support paid 50,000 won in cultural gift certificates according to the number of teams of selected executives and employees. The presentation will hold a company-wide reading debate every quarter, and the book subject to the debate in September is "Why Work" (by Kazuo Inamori). The company-wide reading debate is a stepping stone to create a leading corporate culture by sharing the wisdom contained in the long-loved steady seller.   

 Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. participated in the "2023 Busan Excellent Company Search, Spring" held at BEXCO on May 11 to hold a corporate briefing session and operate a counseling booth.  Organized by the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, the event aims to resolve job shortages and find local talent by allowing Busan's leading companies to provide job information to young job seekers and job seekers. Seo Jae-wook, vice president of Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. (management support), who was in charge of explaining the company, explained the main business, features, welfare benefits, talent awards, and recruitment conditions of Sunbo to job seekers and held a real-time question-and-answer session. The presentation booth on one side of the venue also held job counseling for job seekers and high school graduates.

 ESG Metrics Compliance  Rate Achieved 96.2% Final Evaluation … It shows the strengths of eco-friendly, ethical management, and human rights management.  Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. was honored to be selected as the highest point in the "ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Excellent Partner" selected by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and the Shared Growth Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Shared Growth Committee).    On April 12, the Joint Growth Committee visited the headquarters of Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd., which was designated as an excellent ESG partner, and held a ceremony to award a confirmation letter and deliver a signboard. Kim Sang-do, CEO of Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd., executives and employees, Park Chi-hyung, head of the Joint Commission's operation, Gil Ho-jung, CEO of Innovation, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries attended the delivery ceremony to celebrate the achievements of Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd., which received the highest marks in ESG evaluation.    Previously, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and the Joint Growth Committee provided ESG education to a total of 394 partners in accordance with ESG standard guidelines for small and medium-sized companies. Among them, Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. which was subject to ESG capacity  building consulting, achieved a remarkable achievement of 96.2% in the final evaluation of the "ESG Indicator Compliance Rate."    The departments in charge of major processes such as management support, HSE, production management, management planning, and quality management of the shipbuilding industry formed a TFT to actively respond to the second round of on-site inspection. Through these efforts, Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. was highly praised for establishing a greenhouse gas emission management system by converting energy consumption into won units, establishing human rights management policies, faithfully implementing work-family balance systems, and securing stakeholders' access to information.    In order to establish ESG management, which is a global topic Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. selected it as a task to promote mid- to long-term management strategies of LET'S GO 2025, and is promoting education on changing executives and employees' perceptions of social responsibility and improving the management system.    Choi Geum-sik, chairman of Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd., who is leading ESG management through active social contribution activities, expressed his determination to further advance ESG management through the selection of excellent companies. With this selection, Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd. will receive various incentives such as bank preferential interest rate products, support for the use of shared growth funds to settle ESG management, and additional points during regular evaluation of partner companies.

 Sunbo Angel Partners Co., Ltd. and Lighthouse Invest held the 68th roundtable in Daejeon for two days from April 12 to 13.  More than 10 corporate executives, including CEO Oh Jong-hoon and Choi Young-chan of Sunbo Angel Partners and executives of andLighthouse Invest, participated in the roundtable.   On the first day, they visited institutions and companies in the aerospace and robotics sectors in Daejeon one after another and attended dinner with local entrepreneurs at the Yuseong Hotel.
