Sunbo Unitech Co, Ltd. expected to strengthen partnership with DSME

Sunbo Unitech Co, Ltd. has completed a test operation of Partial Re-liquefaction System (PRS, Partial Re-liquefaction System) on March 27 2014, and the PRS successfully satisfied performance requirements.

The test operation successfully processed at Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd’s Dadae 2^ND factory located in Dadae-dong, Pusan, South Korea. About 50 people including Ko Youngryeol(DSME’s vice-president), Um Hangseop(Head of Business Planning) and other DSME’s employees and Sunbo Industris Co., Ltd. and Sunbo Industries Co., Ltd.’s employees along with domestic and foreign shipowners and major people for ship’s classification attended the test.

The PRS is a special facility invented by DSME in South Korea and that is to re-liquefy vaporized gas and return it to containment system.

LNG carrier is carrying natural gas in liquid but some gas can be wasted when it is converted from the gas into a liquid. Therefore, it is necessary to re-liquefy the vaporized gas and return it to containment system.

While doing this, PRS uses the vaporized gas itself as a refrigerant not using another refrigerant by using natural boil off gas so it is capable of drastically saving ship maintenance and operational costs.

This system was scheduled to be featured on LNG carriers to be the world’s first LNG carriers equipped with ME-GI engine(engine electronically controlled for injecting gas) awarded to Daewoo by Teekay of Canada. Many shipowenrs in the world responded very positively owing to cutting ship maintenance and operational costs.

DSME requested Sunbo Unitech Co.,Ltd to manufacture the prototype of PRS system for research and development since DSME had wanted to show the PRS during a period of “Gastech 2014”. Our company participated in all processes including designing, modeling, drawing and manufacturing, and we proved a successful re-liquidation of gas.

It took only one month for us to complete the whole process from manufacturing the PRS and the test since our employees working in the departments including our designing team, sales team, production team, procurement team and so on joined forces to successfully finish the test. As a result of manufacturing and completing the test, our employees could show Sunbo Unitech Co.,Ltd.’s reserved strength.
