Lighthouse Invest Forms 70 Billion Fund With 17 Mid-sized C…

Lighthouse Invest has formed an open innovation fund worth 70 billion won with 17 mid-sized companies participating as investors. On April 31, Lighthouse Invest held a general meeting to form the "CVC Scale-Up Open Innovation Fund" and started operating it. The Korea Industrial Technology Promotion Agency and the Korea Development Bank invested 20 billion won and 15 billion won, respectively, while 17 mid-sized companies in a wide range of industries, including shipbuilding, automobiles, materials, smart factories, and media, joined hands with Lighthouse Invest to invest 35 billion won. The open innovation fund is the second of its kind after 15 mid-sized companies and the Korea Development Bank joined as investors in 2017. Lighthouse Invest plans to invest in future mobility and future industries linked to existing manufacturing industries such as green energy, robotics and aerospace through new funds.

Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd., which stands out in new eco-friendly and energy businesses, has successfully delivered water electrolysis facilities that can produce 300kW of green hydrogen for the first time in Korea. The water electrolysis facility is a technology that produces high-purity green hydrogen by electrolyzing water. Green hydrogen produced by water electrolysis technology utilizes electricity generated from renewable energy and is known as future eco-friendly hydrogen because it does not emit any pollutants (carbon). PEM (polymer electrolyte membrane) water electrolysis facilities are considered to be highly efficient due to their high productivity, ease of responding to volatility in power production, and low site size burden. Although related technologies are in the commercialization stage overseas, it is significant that Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. and Elchemtech succeeded in developing them for the first time in Korea. Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. believes that the completeness of the 300kW water electrolysis facility has reached the highest level at home and abroad as a result of steadily developing and improving PEM water electrolysis facilities in cooperation with Elchemtech. In particular, Stack, a key technology for water electrolysis, reflected the optimal technology through many improvement processes, such as Sunbo's suggestion of improvement directions to Elchemtech. This 300kW Stack was assembled inside the shipbuilder and completed the test, proving the core capabilities of the shipbuilder, including its own production capabilities. Based on the development process using EPC (bulk order) know-how that provides one-stop shipbuilding and land plant design, parts and materials procurement, and construction, Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. delivered PEM water electrolysis facilities, the first work of the new business. As a result, it was possible to provide an opportunity for domestic and overseas expansion in the full-scale commercialization stage. Starting with supplying 50kW water electrolysis facilities to the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Research Institute last year, Sunbo Unitech Co., Ltd. has continued to increase its performance by completing orders for 300kW this year and 1MW and 2MW next year. Dadae 1st and 2nd Factories Opens Sunbo Piece Smart Lounge

Smart lounges have newly opened in Dadae 1 and 2 factories and Sunbo Piece office buildings. Smart Lounge is loved as an active networking place for Sunbo Family and a rest area that increases work satisfaction. The newly opened smart lounge was built in the space on the first floor next to the security office of Dadae Plant 1, the restaurant building on the first floor of Dadae Plant 2, and the restaurant next to the restaurant on the first floor of Sunbo Piece. Each lounge has a beverage vending machine, a large table set, and a comfortable sofa. A separate space was provided inside so that it could be used as a counseling room and a conference room.
