Global Care, Korea’s first international healthcare NGO, will dispatch congenital facial deformity surgical teams, known as the “Inji Club,” to Vietnam and Laos from March 7 to 14 for a 6-night, 7-day mission.
The teams will be sent to Hue in Vietnam and Sanyabuly in Laos, where they will perform free surgeries for children with congenital facial deformities.
A total of 34 medical professionals—including specialists and nurses from eight university hospitals and ten medical institutions in Korea—will participate under the leadership of Yoo Dae-hyun of Severance Hospital. The teams plan to provide free surgeries to approximately 60 children.
The Vietnam team, led by Professor Oh Tae-seok from Asan Medical Center, will operate at Hue University Hospital, while the Laos team, led by Professor Nam Seung-min from Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, will conduct surgeries at Sanyabuly Provincial Hospital. In addition to surgical care, both teams will promote medical collaboration through exchanges with local healthcare professionals.
Since 1997, Global Care and the Inji Club have continuously provided free surgeries for children with congenital facial deformities—including cleft lip and palate—in countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. To date, they have helped a total of 1,834 children gain new opportunities for life. They have also contributed to sustainable healthcare development by offering training programs for local medical staff and hosting training opportunities in Korea.
This mission is supported by multiple organizations, including SB Sunbo, SeAH Steel, E-Land Foundation, Korea Ratings & Data, InBody, and Johnson & Johnson MedTech, which have provided surgical supplies, medical equipment, and financial support.
A representative from Global Care stated, “We hope this mission will bring new hope to children and families in underserved medical environments.”
